Steel gate structures are critical equipment in hydraulic engineering used to control water flow and regulate water levels, primarily composed of three parts: the leaf structure, embedded components, and hoisting machinery.
Structural Composition
Leaf Structure: Includes the load-bearing frame, traveling supports (main wheels, side wheels, and reverse wheels), and rubber waterstop devices. It adopts a lattice cross-section design, with small gates being integrally cast and medium to large gates assembled in blocks.
Embedded Components: Consist of components such as main tracks and lintel sills, anchored to the concrete structure via foundation bolts to transfer water pressure to the gate chamber.
Hoisting Machinery: Configured based on gate type with winch-type (maximum capacity 50 KN) or screw-type hoists to achieve vertical lifting or rotational operation.
Types and Functions
Classified by operational nature:
Service Gates: Regulate water level and flow under normal conditions
Emergency Gates: Cut off water flow urgently
Maintenance Gates: Used for water blocking during equipment maintenance
Classified by structural form:
Fixed Wheel Flat Gates: Leaf moves vertically along tracks (suitable for head up to 8 meters)
Radial Steel Gates: Rotate around hinge shafts for operation (commonly used in large open-top scenarios)
Integrated Machine-Gate Units: Combine hoisting devices
Materials and Corrosion Protection
Main materials use Q235B low-carbon steel or stainless steel, with surfaces treated via sandblasting for rust removal and hot-dip zinc anti-corrosion coating (coating thickness ≥120μm). Rubber seals are made of foam materials with a pressure resistance of up to 1.6 MPa.
