(1) Process Analysis: Thoroughly understand the process, working characteristics, and control requirements of the controlled object, divide the control into various stages, summarize the characteristics of each stage and the transition conditions between stages, and draw a control flowchart or functional flowchart.

(2) Selecting the Appropriate PLC Type

When selecting a PLC model, the following points should be considered:

1 Function Selection. For small PLCs, mainly consider I/O expansion modules, A/D and D/A modules, and instruction functions (such as interrupts, PID, etc.).

2 Determining the Number of I/O Points. Count the number of digital and analog I/O points of the controlled system, and consider future expansion (generally adding 10% to 20% spare capacity), thereby selecting the number of I/O points and output specifications of the PLC.

3 Memory Estimation. The memory capacity required for the user program is mainly related to the number of I/O points, control requirements, program structure length, and other factors.
