GB 8965 Protective Clothing Flame Retardant Testing--Scope of Application:

Applicable to flame retardant clothing used in environments with open flames, spark emissions, or where flammable substances are present with a flashover risk.

GB 8965 Protective Clothing Flame Retardant Testing--Preconditioning Requirements:

Flame retardant protective clothing or fabrics under this standard shall be washed using a Type A2 automatic washing machine, employing normal agitation for 12.5 hours, rinsed for 8 hours, and air-dried by hanging. During rinsing, the water should be changed twice, with a 2-minute spin before each water change.

GB 8965 Protective Clothing Flame Retardant Testing--Test Methods:

Fabric test methods are as follows:

Fabric breaking strength is tested according to GB/T 3923.1.

Fabric tearing strength is tested according to GB/T 3917.3.

Fabric bursting strength is tested as specified in GB/T 7742.1, with a test area of 7.3 cm2.

Fabric moisture permeability is tested according to GB/T 12704.1.

Pilling test for woven fabrics is conducted as per GB/T 4802.1, and for knitted fabrics as per GB/T 4802.3.

Fabric air permeability is tested according to GB/T 5433.

Fabric dimensional change and relaxation dimensional change are tested according to GB/T 8628 and GB/T 8630.

The standard also supplements and revises normative references, some terms and definitions, technical requirements and indicators for stitch spacing, strength requirements for back crotch seams and shoulder seams, the number of samples for thermal stability and thermal protective performance testing, inspection rules, labeling, and other content.
