EN 13501-1: Fire classification of construction products and building elements - Part 1: Classification using data from fire reaction tests

EN 13501-1 is the European Union's standard for fire classification of construction products and building elements. Its purpose is to scientifically and accurately evaluate and classify the fire performance of various building materials to ensure building safety in the event of a fire. Product scope classification:

Non-flooring materials: such as plastics, wooden boards, walls, and other construction products.

Flooring materials: including bamboo flooring, wooden flooring, plastic flooring, carpets, rubber flooring, etc.

Linear pipe insulation products: such as rubber and plastic insulation pipes, PVC pipes, and other pipe products.

Depending on the type of construction product, the testing methods differ, and thus the classification levels vary. Specific classifications:

Flat construction samples: A1, A2, B, C, D, E, F;

For flooring materials: A1fl, A2fl, Bfl, Cfl, Dfl, Efl, Ffl;

Linear pipe insulation products: A1L, A2L, BL, CL, DL, EL, FL;

Class F is the lowest and is generally not recommended for use in construction.
