What is the injection pressure of an injection mold?
Pressure exists to overcome the resistance during the flow of the melt. Conversely, the resistance encountered during the flow counteracts the machine's pressure to ensure a smooth filling process.
During injection molding, the high pressure at the nozzle of the injection machine overcomes the flow resistance throughout the entire process of the melt. Subsequently, the pressure gradually decreases along the flow length until it reaches the front of the melt, where, under good venting conditions in the cavity, the pressure at the melt front is atmospheric.
The factors affecting the filling pressure of the melt can be summarized into three aspects: material factors, such as the type and viscosity of the plastic; structural elements, including the type, number, and position of the gating system, the shape of the mold cavity, and the thickness of the product; and process factors related to molding.
