Permeable concrete can regulate the temperature and humidity of urban spaces through reverse transpiration, reducing temperatures by 3-5°C and alleviating the urban heat island effect. It helps address urban waterlogging during the flood season, river overflow, and water pollution, reducing the burden on urban drainage systems. It prevents water accumulation on road surfaces, does not reflect light at night, enhances road surface safety and travel comfort, and avoids the formation of a water film between tires and the road surface on rainy days, shortening braking distances and improving driving safety. In winter, the reverse transpiration effect of permeable pavement causes snow and ice on such surfaces to melt faster than on conventional roads. The melted snow turns into water and drains directly into the ground through the permeable pavement, leaving no surface water or ice accumulation. This makes permeable pavement more slip-resistant in winter compared to conventional roads.
