In winter, the reverse transpiration effect of permeable pavement causes snow and ice on its surface to melt faster than on conventional pavement. The melted snow drains directly into the ground through the permeable surface, leaving no standing water or ice, making permeable pavement more slip-resistant in winter compared to conventional roads.
