Due to their physiological characteristics and specific purposes, meat rabbits have particular demands for environmental temperature. According to relevant literature and extensive experimental data, the optimal environmental temperature for adult domestic rabbits should be maintained between 15°C and 20°C, where their growth rate and reproductive performance can reach optimal levels. However, young rabbits around weaning age, whose temperature regulation is not yet fully developed and have a high metabolic rate, require higher external temperatures, needing to be kept at 25°C to 30°C to sustain normal growth and development. Breeding sheds offer good insulation properties. Additionally, during pregnancy, the basal body temperature of female rabbits rises, so special attention must be paid to the environmental temperature in the doe shed during the breeding process, avoiding excessively high temperatures. Reliable, as long as air circulation is ensured, the shed can maintain a constant temperature, addressing issues related to the farrowing of female rabbits and the rearing of weaned young rabbits. For rabbit shed construction, semi-open sheds can be chosen, using face-to-face cages with an A-frame roof truss placed every 5-6 cages, standing 2.5-2.8m high, and covered with wheat straw or small black tiles. Alternatively, enclosed sheds can be selected, requiring doors and windows for ventilation, suitable for breeding in cold regions and also effective for raising young rabbits. This is the most effective way to cool rabbit sheds and an efficient measure for convective heat dissipation in rabbits. Opening doors and windows when the weather is not hot can help cool the shed or alleviate heat stress.
