MFT 4010 Modular Calibrator


The MFT 4010 is a breakthrough combination of a calibrator and HART communicator that truly reduces on-site calibration time. The MFT 4010 series integrates the versatility of a calibrator with the convenience of a HART communicator in a single handheld device. Users can simultaneously view up to four measurements on the high-resolution LCD display or compare HART PV and AO values with corresponding NIST-traceable measurements taken by the MFT. Calibration results and HART configurations are recorded as standard logs.

Available modules include differential pressure, gauge pressure, vacuum pressure, absolute pressure, temperature, and voltage/current. A voltage and current meter is integrated into the base unit. All HART field devices can be configured, interrogated, and adjusted using the HART communicator. Device-specific commands for supported devices are included in the MFT.

This all-in-one tool replaces multiple handheld devices, simplifying workload and improving productivity.


Automated HART Field Device

Calibration is automated through instrument setup-based automatic configuration of the calibrator. Digital setup automates device adjustment steps.

Supported calibration types – pressure, T/C, RTD, I/P, P/I, switching, traditional loops, and mA/V or HART transmitters or local indicators.

Document creation/legacy calibration results – Create calibration procedures on the handheld or download from compatible device management software. Save results to non-volatile memory.

Field updates – Use the internet to download updates and add features/HART support.

Modules – Choose from a range of locked measurement modes to ensure broad versatility.

Field recertification – Sensor modules and the V/I integrated unit can be recalibrated to zero, span, and linearity via the MFT.

User interface – A 2.1-inch × 2.1-inch display, four soft keys (definitions change based on mode), and eight hard keys form the user interface. The display can be configured to show 1–4 measurements.

User convenience – Auto power-off, shock resistance, min/max capture, hold display function, sensor zeroing, direct contrast adjustment.

Security lock – One-time lock for specific MFT settings or all settings.

Diagnostics – The MFT 4010 performs self-tests when connected to power or when a sensor module is installed. Warnings are displayed on the screen.

Dedicated DDF memory – Memory for 500 HART device drivers. Common DDFs as of 2013.


Models and Descriptions

MFT 4000 Calibrator – Base unit for calibration tasks, used with selected NIST-traceable sensor modules and the integrated voltage/current meter. Includes documentation.

MFT 4010 Calibrator with Quick Cal – Includes the base unit for modules and full device-specific HART communication. Displays HART PV and AO alongside NIST-traceable MFT measurements. Users can identify required adjustments and use trim functions from the same display. Smart Trim allows selection of analog or digital trim without navigating menu trees. Includes documentation.

Logging – Log memory can store up to 200 HART configuration files and over 100 calibration results (as-found/as-left [each with up to 21 points], time/date stamped). Communicates with PC via DB-9 connector.
