Those who are engaged in the practical production of coal briquettes through compression molding know that, generally speaking, the more binder added to the pulverized coal, the higher the strength of the briquettes. However, from the perspective of application effectiveness and production costs, while ensuring the quality of the briquettes, the less binder added, the better the economic benefits. The amount of binder added mainly depends on the type and properties of the coal used, as well as the type of binder selected. Some types of coal inherently possess a certain degree of cohesiveness, allowing for a reduced amount or even no binder to be added. For binder briquettes, the amount of binder added typically ranges between 4% and 10%; for carbonized briquettes, the amount of lime added ranges between 20% and 25%; and for humic acid sodium coal sticks, the amount of binder added ranges between 5% and 10%. Correctly determining the amount of binder to add not only ensures the quality of the briquettes produced by the coal briquetting equipment but also brings greater economic benefits. Proper use of binders also contributes to energy savings in coal briquetting machines. Formed coke binder is an auxiliary material, either in powder or liquid form, that binds coke powder together, ensuring that the formed coke has a specific shape and performance after molding. It plays a crucial role in determining the quality and variety of formed coke in production. Formed coke has high requirements for binders: they must not only provide sufficient mechanical strength and thermal stability to the formed coke but also ensure that the binder does not reduce the calorific value of the formed coke.
Additionally, the binder must not contain harmful substances, so as not to increase the ash content of the formed coke and to provide moisture resistance and waterproofing properties.
