Solid biomass samples used for determining calorific value should be prepared as general analysis samples smaller than 1mm. Wrap 1g of the biomass sample tightly with three layers of lens paper of known calorific value, weigh accurately to 0.2mg, and place it into the combustion crucible. Install the ignition wire and cotton thread (ensure the ignition wire does not contact the combustion crucible to avoid ignition failure). Add 5ml of distilled water to the oxygen bomb, carefully tighten the bomb lid, and slowly fill the bomb with oxygen until the pressure reaches 2.8-3.0MPa (28–30 standard atmospheres). The oxygen filling time must not be less than 15 seconds. If the oxygen pressure exceeds 3.2MPa, stop the experiment, release the oxygen, and refill. Place the oxygen bomb into the inner bucket filled with water, ensuring the water level covers the top surface of the bomb lid by 10-20mm. Check the airtightness of the oxygen bomb; there should be no bubbles leaking. If leakage occurs, identify the cause or replace the gasket, then refill with oxygen after addressing the issue. Close the calorimeter lid.
