This removes calcium and magnesium ions from the water, achieving the goal of water softening.

To ensure the thorough progression of the exchange reaction and the effective utilization of the resin, the equipment is equipped with a rational water distribution system. The raw water is evenly distributed over the resin bed, allowing every part of the resin to fully contact the raw water and avoiding issues such as water flow short-circuiting or underutilization of local resin. After regeneration, the resin must be rinsed. First, backwashing with clean water is performed to loosen the resin bed and remove impurities and residual regenerant between the resin particles. The flow rate and duration of backwashing must be carefully controlled to prevent resin loss.
