Octanol, also known as isooctanol, is primarily used as a raw material for plasticizers in polyvinyl chloride (PVC). It serves as a solvent and preservative. Octanol is mainly used to produce phthalate and aliphatic dibasic acid ester plasticizers, such as dioctyl phthalate, dioctyl azelate, and dioctyl sebacate. These are used as primary plasticizers and cold-resistant auxiliary plasticizers for plastics, as well as defoamers, dispersants, mineral processing agents, and petroleum additives. It is also applied in printing and dyeing, paints, films, and other areas.
