I. Chemical Structure and Environmental Characteristics

1. Bio-based Material

   • Developed from renewable castor oil-based polyamide (PA11), with a bio-based carbon content of 93-98%, significantly reducing carbon emissions and dependence on fossil resources 27;
   • Part of Arkema's RNEW? series, compliant with EU environmental standards, supporting circular economy and sustainable development goals 27.

2. Molecular Design

   • Copolymerized from rigid polyamide (PA) and flexible polyether blocks, combining high resilience and mechanical strength with a flexural modulus of 660 MPa 47;
   • Density 1.03 g/cm3, hardness Shore D 71, with outstanding lightweight properties (30% lighter than traditional TPU) 47.

   • PEBAX RNEW 72R53SP01 - Arkema Bio-based Nylon Elastomer

     PEBAX72R53SP01 is a bio-based nylon elastomer developed by French company Arkema through the copolymerization of monomer 11 extracted from castor seeds and polyether. With a bio-based material content as high as 93-98%, it retains the advantages of long-chain nylon, such as low-temperature resistance and chemical resistance, while also incorporating the lightweight functionality of polyether materials. It is a highly practical and stable raw material.            

     PEBAX72R53SP01 is widely used in next-generation electronic products, primarily demonstrating excellent resilience, impact strength, and toughness.           

     PEBAX72R53SP01 is also used in the midsole of high-end sports shoes. It has been tested to withstand 50,000 cycles of 90-degree bending without breaking and 20,000 cycles of 180-degree bending without breaking. Additionally, due to its density of only 1.03, compared to traditional TPU (density 1.26), the entire shoe sole can be 30% lighter.      

     Other characteristics of PEBAX72R53SP01 include a melting point of 186°C, hardness of 71D, and a flexural modulus as high as 660 MPA.  PEBAX72R53SP01 applications: sports midsoles, winter sports accessories, electronic products, medical catheters, etc.
