Trinseo's PC Dissolution Recycling Technology

Dissolution technology, a recycling method that extracts polymers using selective solvents, demonstrates unique advantages in the field of PC recycling. This technology can effectively extract polymers from end-of-life automotive parts, consumer electronics, and other sources without requiring extensive pretreatment. Materials containing the target polymer are directly introduced into the solvent, dissolved, and then filtered to remove impurities, achieving a pure recycling process. This method not only offers high extraction efficiency but also allows the recycled polymer to be 100% reused, providing high-quality raw materials for formulating new solutions. Meanwhile, the remaining materials can be further processed using other recycling technologies.

The convenience and low cost of recycled raw materials enable many companies to benefit from PC dissolution technology. When combined with mechanical and physical recycling, the carbon footprint of PC products is significantly lower than that of products made from traditional fossil-based raw materials. For example, Trinseo's CALIBRE? ECO50 grade product, which incorporates 50% recycled PC raw material, effectively reduces global warming carbon emissions.
