Raw Materials and Manufacturing Process
DURACON POM is a POM copolymer produced through the following four steps: 1) Methanol is oxidized to formaldehyde; 2) Formaldehyde is trimerized to form the polymerization monomer trioxane; 3) The main monomer trioxane is polymerized with a small amount of comonomer to produce crude POM copolymer; 4) Stabilizers and other additives are incorporated into the crude polymer, which is then pelletized to form the final product, DURACON.

Additionally, various specialty grades are manufactured as compounds, in which the crude copolymer is formulated with glass fibers, reinforcing agents, or special additives to achieve various functionalities.
