Silicon Carbide Rod Service Life

The service life of a silicon carbide rod refers to the period from when it is installed in equipment until it can no longer function properly. However, according to industry standards for silicon carbide rods, the service life is defined as the time required for the rod's resistance value to age (increase) to four times its initial value. Here, we see that the lifespan of a silicon carbide rod does not have a specific time limit but is rather a relative value. Nowadays, many manufacturers are not very clear about this concept or do not pay much attention to it, focusing only on the time until the rod bends, breaks, or stops heating. Clearly, this approach is unscientific. To ensure a certain service life for silicon carbide rods, first, the quality of the rods must be guaranteed. They should not bend or break prematurely with minimal aging, nor should they age so quickly that they stop heating after a short period of use—both of which are signs of poor quality. Second, the usage must be scientific. With the same quality, scientific usage will naturally significantly extend the service life of silicon carbide rods.
