This steel offers high strength and toughness, good hardenability and dimensional stability, no significant temper brittleness, high fatigue strength and resistance to multiple impacts after quenching and tempering, good low-temperature impact toughness, and high creep strength at elevated temperatures. This steel typically undergoes surface quenching after tempering as its heat treatment plan.

Supply Condition and Delivery Hardness:

42CrMo mold steel bars, plates, round bars, and material modules are supplied in annealed condition, with a delivery hardness of 217 HBW.

Heat Treatment and Quenching Hardness:

42CrMo mold steel preheating temperature 680-700°C, quenching temperature 840-880°C, oil cooling, tempering temperature 580°C, water or oil cooling, hardness 54-60 HRC.
