Technical Principle of Nitrogen Generators for the Petroleum Industry

Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) nitrogen generation equipment uses carbon molecular sieve as the adsorbent. Under certain pressure, it separates air by leveraging the different diffusion rates of oxygen and nitrogen in the pores of the carbon molecular sieve. Specifically, the carbon molecular sieve adsorbs oxygen much more rapidly than nitrogen. A programmable logic controller (PLC) regulates the opening and closing of multiple valves to achieve alternating cycles of two adsorption towers: pressurization for adsorption and depressurization for desorption. This process completes the separation of oxygen and nitrogen, yielding nitrogen gas of the required purity for users.
