Purpose: Used for monitoring the sterilization effect of pressure steam spray or liquid sterilization at 121°C.

Product Description:

The 121°C suspension biological indicator is a self-contained biological indicator composed of a Geobacillus stearothermophilus (ATCC7953) bacterial strip, culture medium (sealed in a glass tube), and a plastic shell. The bacterial strip contains 5×10? to 5×10? CFU per strip. The D-value ranges from 1.3 to 1.9 minutes. Under saturated steam conditions at 121°C ± 0.5°C, the survival time is ≥7.9 minutes, and the kill time is ≤19 minutes. 

Detailed Specifications:

Under 115°C liquid sterilization conditions: D-value 6.69 min, survival time 28.5 min, kill time 68.6 min

Under 121°C liquid sterilization conditions: D-value 1.85 min, survival time 7.9 min, kill time 19 min

Under 126°C liquid sterilization conditions: D-value 0.65 min, survival time 2.8 min, kill time 6.7 min

Usage Instructions:

1. Place the 121°C suspension biological indicator into a standard test pack.

2. According to relevant regulations, place the test packs at different locations inside the pressure steam sterilizer.

3. After sterilization, remove the biological indicator.

4. Crush the enclosed glass tube and incubate it along with a control tube in an incubator at 56°C to 58°C.

5. After 48 hours of incubation, determine the results. If the culture medium changes from purple-red to yellow, it indicates incomplete sterilization. If the color remains unchanged, continue incubation for another 2 days. If no color change occurs, sterilization is considered complete.
