Coumarone resin is produced through catalytic polymerization using ethylene tar and C9 as raw materials. The product appears as yellow, brown, or black lumpy solid, featuring good compatibility, water resistance, acid and alkali resistance, rust prevention, and electrical properties.
Applications: Coumarone resin is used in industries such as rubber, tires, V-belts, conveyor belts, paints, inks, waterproofing, and hoses. Neither coumarone resin, liquid coumarone, nor rubber alone possesses adhesive properties, but when compounded, they impart excellent adhesion to rubber, including pressure-sensitive or hot-melt characteristics. The production of coumarone resin is more stable than that of rosin. When added to rubber, coumarone resin acts as a softener, reinforcing agent, tackifier, and dispersant, thereby improving the processing performance of rubber.
