Product Introduction:

Property Description: Grayish-white or brownish-yellow powder. Insoluble in ethanol, soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, ammonia water, and aqueous solutions of potassium iodide and sodium thiosulfate. Easily decomposes under light.

Copper(I) iodide is almost insoluble in water (0.00042 g/L, 25°C) and also insoluble in acids, but it can further coordinate with iodide ions to form linear [CuI2] ions, thereby dissolving in potassium iodide or sodium iodide solutions. The resulting solution precipitates copper(I) iodide upon dilution, making it useful for purifying copper(I) iodide samples.

Appearance: White crystals or grayish-white powder, decomposes to brownish-yellow upon exposure to light. Insoluble in water and ethanol. Soluble in 75% sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, also soluble in ammonia water and potassium iodide. Reacts with sodium hydroxide to form copper(I) oxide.
