Tetrahydrofuran (THF) is a colorless, water-miscible organic liquid with low viscosity at room temperature and pressure. The chemical formula of this cyclic ether can be written as (CH?)?O. Due to its wide liquid range, it is a commonly used medium-polarity aprotic solvent. Its primary use is as a precursor for high molecular weight polymers. Although THF's odor and chemical properties are similar, its effectiveness is rather poor.
