Brief description of the main working principle of the ICP spectrometer:

The emission spectrometer analyzes elements qualitatively and quantitatively based on the characteristic radiation generated when atoms or ions of the element under test are excited in the light source, by determining the presence and intensity of this characteristic radiation.

Application scope: As a large-scale precision analytical instrument, the ICP spectrometer is widely used in:

Detailed description of instrument composition and working principle

ICP Plasma Emission Spectrometer consists of a monochromator, radio frequency generator, sample introduction system, photoelectric conversion, control system, data processing system, and analysis operation software. The plasma is generated in a triple concentric quartz torch. Argon gas is introduced tangentially into the torch, and a copper load coil (cooled by water) is wound around the upper part of the torch. When high-frequency current (operating frequency 40MHz, power about 1KW) generated by the high-frequency generator passes through the coil, it creates an alternating magnetic field, ionizing a small amount of argon to produce electrons and ions. These accelerated particles collide with other neutral atoms under the magnetic field, generating more electrons and ions, forming an eddy current in the torch. With an electric spark, a plasma torch (i.e., plasma) is formed, reaching temperatures above 10,000 K. The aqueous sample solution is nebulized into an aerosol and introduced into the central channel of the quartz torch. Atoms are ionized under external energy, but excited-state atoms are unstable. When transitioning from a higher energy level to the ground state, they release enormous energy in the form of electromagnetic waves of specific wavelengths. Different elements produce distinct characteristic spectra. These characteristic spectra are directed through a lens onto a grating in the spectrometer. The computer controls the stepper motor to rotate the grating, and the transmission mechanism precisely positions the diffracted characteristic spectral line intensity of the element under test at the exit slit. The photomultiplier tube converts this spectral line intensity into an electric current, which is processed by the circuit and converted via V/F conversion. The computer performs data processing, and finally, the printer outputs the analysis results.
