Test methods

5.1.1 To inspect the dimensions of single-phase plugs and sockets for household and similar purposes, use the special gauges specified in Figures 8 to 16 and a vernier caliper with a division value of 0.02 mm. The dimensions of the rounded ends of plug pins shall be measured with appropriate measuring tools. The surface roughness of these gauges is 0.8, and the hardness is Rockwell hardness HRC58 to HRC62. The geometric tolerances such as parallelism, perpendicularity, and symmetry of the gauges shall comply with tolerance grade H as specified in GB/T 1184-1996.

5.1.2 The pins of the plug shall be able to pass through the gauges in Figures 8 and 9. If the plug pins are equipped with insulating sleeves, the insulated sleeve part does not need to pass through the gauges in Figures 8 and 9.

5.1.3 The usage of socket gauges is as follows:

———The socket go gauge shall be able to insert into the socket outlet openings;

———The socket no-go gauge shall not be able to insert into the socket outlet openings;

———The socket contact gauge shall be able to contact the live socket contacts;

———The socket non-contact gauge shall not be able to contact the live socket contacts. When using gauges, if the socket has a shutter, it shall be rendered inoperative to avoid affecting the test. The insertion force of the gauge shall not exceed the maximum withdrawal force specified in Table 16 of GB/T 2099.1-2021.
