Epimedium (scientific name: Epimedium brevicornu Maxim.) is a perennial herbaceous plant, with a height of 20-60 cm. It has a thick and short rhizome, dark brown in color. The leaves are biternately compound, basal and cauline, with long petioles. The leaflets are papery or thickly papery, with spiny teeth along the margins. The flowers are white or pale yellow, blooming from May to June, and fruiting occurs from June to August.

Epimedium grows in forests, thickets along ditches, or shady and moist slopes, at altitudes of 650-3500 meters. It is cultivated in regions such as Shaanxi, Gansu, Shanxi, Henan, Qinghai, Hubei, and Sichuan in China.
