Tulip (scientific name: Tulipa gesneriana), a herbaceous plant in the genus Tulipa of the Liliaceae family, is the national flower of Turkey, Kazakhstan, and the Netherlands. English names: Flower of Common Tulip, Flower of Late Tulip. Traditional Chinese medicine names: Tulip (Bencao Shiyi); Tulip (Taiping Yulan); Red Blue Flower, Purple Fragrance (Gangmu). It has 3-5 leaves, which are linear-lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate. The flower is solitary and terminal, large and showy, with red tepals sometimes mixed with white and yellow, or occasionally entirely white or yellow, measuring 5-7 cm in length and 2-4 cm in width. It has six stamens of equal length, hairless filaments, no style, and a stigma that enlarges into a crest-like shape. The flowering period is from April to May.
