Installation Method for REG-SA32-40-50D Manual Expansion Valve

Refrigerant

Suitable for all common non-flammable refrigerants and all non-corrosive gases/liquids. Can be used in chemical and petrochemical applications. It is recommended that this valve be used only in closed piping systems. For details, please contact Danfoss.

Installation

When installing the valve, the top stem must be vertically upward or in a horizontal position (Figure 1). The valve should be opened manually. This valve can withstand high internal pressure. However, the piping system should be designed to avoid liquid accumulation and reduce excessive pressure and damage to the pipeline caused by thermal expansion. Ensure that the valve is not affected by pressure shocks such as liquid hammer in the system.

Recommended Flow Direction

The flow direction should point toward the valve core as indicated by the arrow on the valve sleeve (Figure 2). The force required to open or close the valve should not exceed that of a standard handwheel.

Welding

Before welding, remove the valve cover (Figure 3) to prevent damage to the packing, the O-ring between the valve body and cover, and the Teflon gasket inside the valve seat. Only materials and welding methods compatible with the valve body material should be used. Clean the interior of the valve to remove welding debris after completion before reassembling the valve. Avoid welding debris and dust in the threads of the valve body and cover.

The valve cover may not need to be removed under the following conditions:

The temperature in the area between the valve body and cover during welding does not exceed +150℃/+302℉. This temperature depends on the welding method and the cooling of the valve body during welding (cooling can be ensured by wrapping a wet cloth around the valve body). Ensure that no foreign objects, welding slag, etc., enter the valve during welding. Be careful not to damage the Teflon valve plate. After installation, the valve body must not be subjected to external pressure (external loads). REG valves must not be installed in open systems where the valve outlet is exposed to the atmosphere. The outlet side of the valve must always be connected to the system or sealed, for example, with a welded end plate.

Assembly

Remove welding slag and foreign objects from the pipeline and valve body before assembly. Ensure the valve core is fully screwed back toward the valve cover before being replaced in the valve body (Figure 4).

Tightening

Use a torque wrench to tighten the nuts to the values specified in the table (Figure 4).
