Product Description

ELASTOSIL N2189 is a non-flowing, one-component silicone sealant that cures by absorbing moisture from the air at room temperature.

ELASTOSIL N2189 is a one-component silicone sealant that cures by absorbing moisture from the air at room temperature. During the curing process, a small amount of acid is released, typically resulting in slight volume shrinkage. The surface begins to skin within approximately 15 to 25 minutes, and the curing speed depends on ambient temperature and humidity. After curing, the product can withstand temperatures up to 180°C (356°F) without degradation.

Excess sealant may occur during machine or equipment dispensing. It is recommended to use mineral spirits as a solvent. However, removal should only be attempted after full curing. Mechanical methods, swelling solvents, or exposure to high temperatures around 100°C will help eliminate sealant residues.ELASTOSIL N2189 exhibits good primerless adhesion to many substrates. We recommend conducting small-scale tests for specific applications to optimize production conditions.

Storage

The "*Use by date" is indicated on the label of each product's outer packaging.

Material exceeding its shelf life is not necessarily unusable. However, in such cases, performance testing should be conducted on relevant indicators to ensure quality.

Safety Information

ELASTOSIL N2189 silicone sealant releases 3% methanol during the curing process. Therefore, prolonged or high-concentration inhalation of methanol vapor should be avoided, and workplaces must maintain good ventilation.
