Sokalan®RO 3000 is an aqueous solution of modified polycarboxylic acid produced by BSAF. It is a specialized scale inhibitor designed to prevent iron fouling on reverse osmosis membranes. Sokalan®RO 3000 is a low-phosphorus chemical. It effectively inhibits the formation of iron scale. Under published laboratory methods, Sokalan®RO 3000 demonstrates superior iron stability compared to known commercially available products. It is compatible with synthetic film compounds (polyamide) and cellulose acetate reverse osmosis membranes from leading manufacturers. To prevent membrane scaling caused by calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, or barium sulfate, the use of other Sokalan®RO scale inhibitors may be necessary. Under normal usage conditions, Sokalan®RO 3000 is not affected by chlorine or other oxidizing biocides and can be used in membrane systems employing chlorine and sodium metabisulfite.
