This is because the structure of calcium chloride contains hydrates, which form compounds with environmental moisture, adsorbing water.

2. Moisture absorption capacity: As a desiccant, calcium chloride has a high moisture absorption capacity and can absorb humidity from the air until saturated. When calcium chloride reaches saturation, visible condensation or crystallization occurs. Therefore, gel starch and superabsorbent polymers are added to convert the absorbed water into a gel-like form, preventing liquid leakage.
