The CG-04 Tipping Bucket Rain Gauge is a hydrological and meteorological instrument used to measure natural rainfall. It converts rainfall into digital information output in the form of switch signals to meet the needs of information transmission, processing, recording, and display.

This instrument consists of a rain receiver component and a measurement component. The rain receiving port has a diameter of Φ200mm. The measurement assembly is a tipping bucket mechanical bistable weighing mechanism, which functions to convert rainfall depth in millimeters into switch signal output.

Applications

It can be used by meteorological stations, hydrological stations, agriculture and forestry departments, field monitoring stations, and other relevant sectors. It works in conjunction with our company's rainfall recorders to measure precipitation, rainfall intensity, and rainfall duration. It also provides raw data for flood control, water supply scheduling, and reservoir water management at power stations.

Working Principle

Rainwater collected by the rain receiver passes through the upper cylinder (funnel) and enters the measuring tipping bucket. The tipping bucket, injection-molded from engineering plastic, is divided into two equal-volume triangular chambers by a central partition. It is a mechanical bistable structure: when one chamber is collecting water, the other is in a waiting state. When the collected rainwater reaches the predetermined value of 0.2mm, it tips due to gravity, switching to the waiting state, while the other chamber begins collecting water. When its collected water reaches the predetermined value, it also tips and enters the waiting state. A magnet is installed on the side wall of the tipping bucket. As the bucket tips, the magnet moves past a dry reed switch, causing it to open or close. Each tip of the bucket triggers the dry reed switch once, sending out a switch signal (pulse signal).
