Functionality

Pepperl+Fuchs KCD2-STC-Ex1 Safety Barrier is suitable for intrinsically safe applications. This device powers 2-wire smart transmitters installed in the field area and is also compatible with 2-wire smart current sources. It converts analog input signals into isolated current values for transmission to the safe area. Digital signals can be superimposed on the input signals in either the field or safe area and transmitted bidirectionally. The output mode can be selected via DIP switch as active current, passive current, or voltage output. If the HART communication resistance in the loop is too low, an internal 250Ω resistor between terminals 6 and 8 can be used. A test interface for connecting HART communicators is also integrated into the device terminals.
