Most basement areas in villa complexes are equipped with villa-type sewage ejectors. Currently, to increase usable space, many real estate companies design basements in ordinary residential homes as well. As a result, it is more appropriate to call it a "household sewage ejector" or "domestic sewage ejector" rather than a "villa sewage ejector." Domestic basement drainage typically involves designing a masonry sump pit in the basement. Wastewater from bathrooms, showers, and sinks is discharged into the sump pit through pipes on the same level. Two submersible pumps are installed in the pit, which is commonly referred to as the "one pit, two pumps" underground sewage drainage method. The alternating operation of the dual pumps ensures drainage reliability. However, the drawbacks of this method include the need for regular cleaning and the issue of odors. Basements usually lack windows, making it impossible to ventilate odors, which renders the space unusable. Regular cleaning is another disadvantage of this underground drainage approach.

Later, with the introduction of foreign technology, this "one pit, two pumps" basement drainage method has gradually been replaced by sewage ejectors. The advantages of this villa-type sewage ejector are odor-free operation and no need for cleaning. However, due to its small capacity, frequent pump activation has made reliability a challenge. Most sewage ejectors work by placing a single-phase pump in a small container, controlled by an air pressure switch. Wastewater from basements, sinks, showers, etc., flows into the sewage ejector tank, and the pump inside the ejector lifts the sewage outdoors.
