The flame-free venting device consists of two parts—an explosion vent panel and a flame quenching module. The explosion vent panel responds to rapid increases in deflagration pressure, opening immediately to reduce pressure. When the expanding fireball passes through the open vent panel, it is intercepted by the quenching module. The precision stainless steel mesh, supported by a frame, acts as a three-dimensional flame trap, extinguishing the flame and preventing propagation, thereby avoiding secondary or multiple explosions. The quenching module eliminates deflagration flames, reduces the temperature of hot gases, and captures both burning and unburned dust passing through the open vent panel.

Simultaneously, pressure waves or noise generated by production equipment are significantly reduced. As flames pass through the mesh flame arrestor, heat exchange occurs between the arrestor and the flame, rapidly cooling the high-temperature flame, venting pressure and smoke, while also reducing pressure waves or noise from production equipment.

With increasingly stringent environmental inspections, safety has become a major concern. In the past, explosion vent panels were commonly installed on dust collectors to release overpressure caused by dust explosions. However, such installations on indoor equipment are not permitted by safety regulations because they endanger surrounding personnel and equipment. The pressure waves and flames from an explosion could trigger secondary or multiple explosions, posing significant risks. Therefore, relying solely on explosion vent panels for dust collectors is unreliable. We recommend using flame-free venting + isolation technology (a more economical solution) or suppression + isolation technology to ensure production safety.

There are three main methods for dust explosion protection: venting, isolation, and suppression.

Venting: Releases explosion pressure in advance through a pressure relief device to protect equipment from damage.

Isolation: Prevents flame propagation using an isolation valve.
