A flame-free explosion venting device is a safety apparatus used to protect equipment and personnel. It automatically shuts down equipment or pipelines in the event of an explosion or fire, preventing the spread of flames or the escalation of an explosion. Its working principle involves detecting changes in gas pressure and temperature inside pipelines or equipment to determine whether there is a risk of explosion or fire. If a hazard is confirmed, it immediately shuts down the equipment or pipeline while releasing pressure to achieve the goal of protecting both equipment and personnel.

Flame-Free Explosion Venting Device (Dust Explosion Vent)Working Principle:

The flame-free venting device consists of two parts—an explosion vent panel and a flame arrestor module. The explosion vent panel responds to the rapid increase in deflagration pressure, immediately opening to reduce pressure. When the expanding fireball passes through the open vent panel, it is intercepted by the flame arrestor module. The precision stainless steel mesh supported by a frame acts as a three-dimensional flame trap, extinguishing the flame and ensuring it does not propagate, thereby preventing secondary or multiple explosions. The flame arrestor module eliminates deflagration flames, reduces the temperature of hot gases, and captures both burning and unburned dust passing through the open vent panel.

At the same time, pressure waves or noise generated by production equipment are also reduced to minimal levels. As flames pass through the mesh flame arrestor element, heat exchange occurs between the element and the flame, rapidly cooling the high-temperature flame, venting pressure and smoke, while also reducing pressure waves or noise generated by production equipment.

Application Fields:

Widely used in industries such as grain, metallurgy, chemicals, power, light industry, tobacco, pharmaceuticals, machining, and solid waste treatment. Applicable equipment includes cyclones, bag dust collectors, dust collectors, cartridge filters, pneumatic conveying systems, rod or ball mills, bucket elevators, dryers and ovens, roller mills, and buildings.

With increasingly stringent environmental inspections, safety is drawing more attention. In the past, explosion vent panels were commonly installed on dust collectors to vent overpressure caused by dust explosions. However, such installations on indoor equipment are not permitted by safety regulations because they endanger surrounding personnel and equipment. The pressure waves and flames from an explosion may cause secondary or multiple explosions, creating risks. Therefore, relying solely on explosion vent panels for dust collectors is unreliable. We recommend using flame-free venting + isolation technology (a more economical solution) or explosion suppression + isolation technology to ensure production safety.

There are three main methods for dust explosion protection: venting, isolation, and suppression.

Venting: Releases explosion pressure in advance through a pressure relief device to protect equipment from damage.

Isolation: Blocks the explosion using an isolation valve to prevent flame propagation.

Suppression: Detection devices detect sparks and trigger fire suppression systems to instantly extinguish flames, preventing explosions.
