Working Principle of Flame-Free Explosion Venting Devices for Dust Collectors in Chemical Plants:

The flame-free venting device consists of two parts—an explosion venting panel and a flame extinguishing module. The explosion venting panel responds to the rapid increase in deflagration pressure, immediately opening to reduce pressure. When the expanding fireball passes through the open venting panel, it is intercepted by the flame extinguishing module. The stainless steel precision mesh supported by a frame acts as a three-dimensional flame trap, extinguishing the flame and ensuring it does not propagate, thereby preventing secondary or multiple explosions. The flame extinguishing module eliminates deflagration flames, reduces the temperature of hot gases, and captures burning and unburned dust passing through the open venting panel.

At the same time, pressure waves or noise generated by production equipment are also reduced to a minimal level. When flames pass through the mesh flame arrestor element, heat exchange occurs between the element and the flame, rapidly cooling the high-temperature flame, releasing pressure and smoke. Additionally, pressure waves or noise generated by production equipment are reduced.

In the past, explosion venting panels were commonly installed on dust collectors to release overpressure caused by dust explosions. However, such installations on indoor equipment are not permitted by safety regulations because they endanger surrounding personnel and equipment. The pressure waves and flames from an explosion may cause secondary or multiple explosions, creating risks. Therefore, relying solely on explosion venting panels for dust collectors is unreliable. We recommend using flame-free venting + isolation technology (a more economical solution) or suppression + isolation technology to ensure production safety.

There are three main methods for dust explosion protection: venting, isolation, and suppression.
