Ceramic capillaries (Ceramic bonding tools), also known as ceramic nozzles, are axisymmetric ceramic tools with vertical holes and belong to precision microstructural ceramic components. In application, ceramic capillaries are used as wire bonding tools in the wire bonding process and can be employed for bonding and packaging of circuits such as thyristors, surface acoustic wave devices, LEDs, diodes, transistors, and IC chips.

Wire bonding uses fine metal wires (copper, gold, etc.) along with heat, pressure, and ultrasonic energy to tightly weld metal leads to substrate pads, thereby achieving electrical interconnection between chips and substrates and information exchange between chips.
