The Small Chamber Fire Retardant Coating Tester is suitable for quantitatively testing the flame retardant performance of fire retardant coatings applied to substrate surfaces under laboratory conditions. The quality of the fire retardant coating is evaluated based on its weight loss during combustion and the volume of charring. Sample Preparation:

1. The test panels for the Fire Retardant Coating Tester (Small Chamber Method) are made of birch five-layer plywood conforming to GB738-75 "Broad-Leaved Tree Plywood," with dimensions of 300mm × 150mm × 5mm. The surface of the sample should be flat and smooth, free of knots, seams, and other defects.   

2. Before applying the fire retardant coating, the test panels should be conditioned to a constant weight under conditions of temperature 25 ± 1°C and relative humidity 60% to 70% (weight change within 24 hours not exceeding 0.1%).

3. Apply the fire retardant coating to be tested evenly on the surface and all sides of the test panel at a coating ratio of 200–250g/m2 (thick paste coatings may be increased to 500g/m2). When multiple coats are required, allow 24 hours between applications.

4. Condition the prepared test specimens to constant weight under the conditions specified in item 2.

5. Ten test specimens should be prepared for each type of fire retardant coating.
