The roller on the operator's side is called the front roller, which can be moved horizontally back and forth manually or electrically to adjust the roll gap to meet operational requirements. The rear roller is fixed and cannot move back and forth. Both rollers are of the same size and rotate at different speeds in opposite directions. Raw rubber or compound is drawn into the gap between the rollers by their rotation and subjected to intense shearing action to achieve plasticization or mixing. Open mixing mills are also used in plastic processing and other sectors.
