II. System Working Principle:

The railway fastener vibration damping test adopts the drop hammer impact method: The heavy hammer drops from various heights onto test specimens (primarily rails) to establish the relationship between drop height and specimen failure rate. The impact resistance of samples is represented by the drop height at 50% failure rate. Alternative methods include fixed-height testing with variable hammer weights (results expressed in hammer mass) or combined variations expressed in impact energy.

Energy-based representations are not suitable for comparing results from different heights or hammer masses. Drop hammer testing provides closer simulation to real-world conditions compared to pendulum impact tests, serving as a simple yet practical method for determining metal materials' resistance to impact loads.
