Glass powder is an anti-scratch, high-transparency powder material with small particle size, good dispersibility, high transparency, and excellent anti-settling effect. Through surface modification, it exhibits good affinity and strong steric hindrance capability, allowing it to disperse easily in coatings. After film formation, it enhances the fullness of the coating. When used in crystal-clear primers, it maintains clear transparency while providing excellent scratch resistance.

Applications of Glass Powder

1. The appearance of glass powder is white powder, while microscopically it is clear and transparent.

2. Particle morphology: cubic or near-spherical particles with a relatively smooth surface.

3. Excellent insulation properties: Due to high purity, low impurity content, and stable performance, it offers superior electrical insulation, resulting in good insulation and anti-arc properties in cured products.

4. Crack resistance: It can match the expansion coefficient of materials, reduce the peak exothermic temperature during resin curing, lower the linear expansion coefficient and shrinkage of the cured product, thereby eliminating internal stress and preventing cracking.

5. Corrosion resistance: Glass powder is not easily reactive with other substances and remains chemically inert to most acids and bases. Its particles uniformly cover the surface of objects, providing strong corrosion resistance.

6. Flame retardancy: The particle size distribution of glass powder is rationally graded, reducing or eliminating sedimentation and stratification during use. It enhances the tensile and compressive strength of cured products, improves wear resistance, increases thermal conductivity, and boosts flame retardancy.

7. Glass powder treated with silane coupling agents exhibits good compatibility with various resins, strong adsorption, easy mixing and dispersion, and no agglomeration.

8. As a functional filler added to organic resins, glass powder not only improves various properties of the cured product, especially flame retardancy, insulation, weather resistance, and scratch resistance.

9. Due to its refractive index matching that of most resins, glass powder provides high transparency in coatings (especially furniture paints). Thus, even at an addition rate of up to 15%, it does not affect the transparency of the resin.

10. Acts as a high-temperature inorganic solvent in the temperature range of 390–780°C.
