Differences

The ratchet socket wrench is composed of main and auxiliary spline sockets of various sizes connected via the engagement of internal and external keys on articulated joints. Each spline socket features two differently sized spline through-holes.

The movable handle allows for convenient adjustment of the wrench's working angle. This type of wrench is used for tightening and loosening screws, offering strong adaptability, ease of use, and low cost.

A torque wrench, also known as a torsion or moment wrench, operates on the principle that torque is the product of force and distance. When tightening threaded fasteners such as screws, bolts, and nuts, it is necessary to control the applied torque to ensure the fastener is secure without damaging the threads due to excessive force. Hence, a torque wrench is used for such operations. First, set the desired upper torque limit. When the applied torque reaches this set value, the wrench emits a "click" sound or the joint bends slightly, indicating that the fastener is tightened and no additional force should be applied.

The key difference lies in the fact that the torque of a torque wrench can be preset.

The principle behind the "click" sound of a torque wrench is straightforward and can be understood in the following steps:

1. The "click" sound indicates that the required torque value has been reached;

2. The "click" is produced by the internal torque release mechanism, which consists of three components: a pressure spring, a torque release joint, and a torque push rod.
