What is 50Mn18Cr4WN material? 50Mn18Cr4WN non-magnetic steel, abbreviated as 50Mn non-magnetic steel, is a chromium-manganese series austenitic non-magnetic alloy structural steel. The addition of W and N elements to the base 50Mn18Cr4 further enhances the performance of this steel. It features low magnetic permeability (u < 1.02 H/m), high strength (above 1200 MPa), and good machinability. Through quenching and tempering processes, varying the tempering temperature affects the steel's metallographic structure, resulting in different combinations of strength, plasticity, and toughness. After solution treatment, semi-hot or cold deformation strengthening is applied to meet different strength requirements.

Applications

50Mn non-magnetic steel plates are suitable for manufacturing non-magnetic molds in the electronics industry; non-magnetic bearings and other structural components that require no magnetic induction in strong magnetic fields; hot-work molds for industrial use at 700-800°C; non-magnetic cold-work molds, plastic and rubber molds; production of high-temperature glass molds; wear-resistant non-magnetic tools; non-magnetic molds for magnetic material factories; non-magnetic retaining ring forgings for turbine generators and other components requiring non-magnetic properties. The as-delivered hardness of 50Mn non-magnetic steel is 28-35 HRC. The plate thickness of 50Mn non-magnetic steel is 20-35 mm.

Heat Treatment Solution Aging Treatment Quenching Annealing Tempering Process

The heat treatment for 50Mn non-magnetic steel involves solution + aging treatment, with the following temperatures and holding times:

Annealing temperature 880-900°C, holding time 3-6 hours, furnace cooling,

Tempering temperature 300-670°C,

Solution temperature 1020-1070°C, water cooling, hardness 25-30 HRC;

Aging treatment temperature 580-600°C, aging for 15-20 hours, air cooling, hardness ≥35 HRC.
