Epichlorohydrin rubber's oil resistance is second only to fluorosilicone rubber and fluoroelastomer, but superior to other rubbers. It maintains good oil resistance within a temperature range of -50°C to 150°C, even under temperature variations.
The solubility parameter of epichlorohydrin rubber is 9.15 for homopolymer and 9.05 for copolymer, ensuring high performance retention in mineral oils.

Epichlorohydrin rubber's heat aging resistance is second only to fluoroelastomer, fluorosilicone rubber, and acrylate rubber. Its thermal decomposition temperature is 180°C under anaerobic conditions and close to 180°C under aerobic conditions. After 1000 hours in hot air, the continuous use upper temperature limit is 150°C for homopolymer and 135°C for copolymer. A key characteristic of epichlorohydrin rubber's heat aging is that it does not harden and remains soft over long periods.

The brittle temperature of homopolymer is -25°C, -40°C for binary copolymer, and -50°C for ternary copolymer. A standout feature of epichlorohydrin rubber is its ability to maintain flexibility at brittle temperatures. Its low-temperature performance is inferior to fluorosilicone rubber but superior to polyurethane rubber, fluoroelastomer, and nitrile rubber. Notably, epichlorohydrin rubber offers the best balance between oil resistance and cold resistance, which is unmatched by nitrile rubber and polyacrylate rubber.
Epichlorohydrin rubber has extremely low permeability to fluorinated refrigerants like Freon R12 and R22. It has been certified by the American Society of Engineers for use with 12 refrigerants, with homopolymer showing the best resistance to R22.

1. Automotive Industry Epichlorohydrin Rubber Rings: Used in various seals and hoses, such as oil seals for crankshafts, differential boxes, transmissions, clutches, carburetors, hydraulic hoses, fuel-resistant hoses, air conditioning hoses, radiators, cooling water delivery hoses, torsional vibration dampers, engine covers, and automotive door and window seals.
2. Refrigeration Industry: Epichlorohydrin rubber is an ideal sealing material for Freon refrigeration equipment. Applied in various refrigeration equipment using Freon R22, it solves leakage issues, extending the service life from about one week with nitrile rubber to about one year with ECO rubber.
