MOPSO is a buffering agent used in biochemistry and molecular biology, with the Chinese name 3- (N-morpholino) -2-hydroxypropanesulfonic acid. It is a zwitterionic buffer suitable for pH ranges of 6.2-7.6. MOPSO free acid can be mixed with MOPSO sodium salt to obtain the desired pH value, or MOPSO free acid can be titrated with sodium hydroxide to achieve the desired pH value. Although structurally similar to MOPS, they belong to the morpholine series of buffering agents, but there are still certain differences in their application scope. MOPSO buffer is commonly used in cell culture media, as a running buffer in electrophoresis, and for protein purification through chromatography. Due to its low ion mobility, MOPSO is considered an excellent buffer for capillary electrochromatography. MOPSO lacks the ability to form complexes with most metal ions and can be used as a non coordinating buffer in metal ion solutions. MOPSO also interacts with the peptide backbone of bovine serum albumin (BSA) to stabilize BSA and prevent thermal denaturation. Preparation method for 1L MOPSO solution: 1. Dissolve 112.63 g of MOPSO in free acid (CAS No. 68399-77-9, molecular weight=225.26) in 750 mL of dH2O; 2. Use 10N NaOH to adjust to the desired pH value; 3. Fill with dH2O to the final volume of 1 liter; 4. Filter disinfection or high-pressure sterilizer disinfection; 5. Store in an environment of 4 degrees Celsius.
