Hydroxyl acrylic resin is one of the most widely used resin types in the coatings industry due to its strong performance adjustability. Its core applications are concentrated in the following scenarios:

1. Coatings Field (accounting for over 70%)

This is its primary application scenario, which can be classified by film-forming method and usage as follows:

Solvent-based Coatings:

Automotive Coatings: Including primers and topcoats for original finish (OEM), as well as basecoats and clearcoats for refinish paints, requiring high weather resistance, high gloss, and UV aging resistance.

Industrial Coatings: Used for machinery equipment, steel structures, pipelines, etc., requiring salt spray resistance and chemical resistance (to acids, alkalis, solvents).

Furniture Coatings: Divided into PU coatings (cured with isocyanates) and NC coatings (nitrocellulose lacquers, some combined with hydroxyl resins to improve performance), requiring high hardness, ease of repair, and a delicate feel.

Water-based Coatings:

Architectural Coatings: Used for interior and exterior wall latex paints, cross-linked with water-based curing agents via hydroxyl groups to enhance scrub resistance and stain resistance.

Water-based Industrial Paints: Responding to environmental policies (low VOC emissions), used for metal, plastic, and other substrates to replace traditional solvent-based coatings.

2. Adhesives and Inks

Adhesives: Used with curing agents such as isocyanates for bonding metals, plastics, and composite materials, especially suitable for structural adhesives requiring temperature and aging resistance.

Inks: Used as the vehicle in inks to improve pigment dispersibility and adhesion, used for printing inks on plastic films (such as BOPP, PET), requiring good compatibility with the substrate and rub resistance.

3. Other Fields

Leather Finishing: Used for top finishing on leather surfaces to enhance gloss and abrasion resistance.

Electronic Materials: Used as encapsulation materials or insulating coatings for electronic components, requiring low shrinkage and good electrical insulation properties.
