Main Uses

Pharmaceuticals and Biochemistry:

As an anticoagulant intermediate: Its derivatives can inhibit thrombin or platelet aggregation and are used in the synthesis of antithrombotic drugs;

Metal ion chelating agent: Through the synergistic coordination effect of sulfhydryl groups and tetrazole rings, it chelates excess heavy metal ions in the body (such as mercury and lead) and is used in the development of antidotes;

Enzyme inhibitor: The sulfhydryl group can bind to sulfhydryl groups or metal ions in the active center of enzymes, inhibiting the activity of specific enzymes (such as cysteine proteases), and possesses potential antibacterial or antitumor activity.

Materials and Surface Treatment:

Metal corrosion inhibitor: Through the strong adsorption of sulfhydryl groups to metal surfaces (forming coordination bonds), it forms a protective film on the metal surface to inhibit corrosion (especially effective for precious metals such as copper and silver);

Photoresist additive: In semiconductor manufacturing, it acts as a stabilizer or crosslinking agent for photoresists, improving the resolution and etch resistance of lithographic patterns.

Organic Synthesis and Catalysis:

Thiolation reagent: Used to introduce sulfhydryl groups into organic molecules or as a sulfur source to participate in the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds;

Ligand: Forms complexes with transition metals (such as palladium and platinum) and participates as a catalyst in coupling reactions (such as the Suzuki reaction), regulating catalytic activity and selectivity.
