Properties

Reacts violently with water: Extremely sensitive to air and moisture, will react violently with water and release flammable ethylene.

Applications

1. Organic synthesis reagent: It is a commonly used Grignard reagent in organic synthesis, used to introduce vinyl groups (-CH=CH?) into target molecules.

2. Fine chemical synthesis: It can react with fatty acids to synthesize 1,6-diketone, and react with benzoic acid to synthesize fine chemical intermediates such as phenylpent-4-enone.

3. Functional material synthesis: It can be used together with iron pentadienoate complex to synthesize functional compounds such as divinylcyclopropane, which is applied in the field of materials science.
