ASTM G73 Rain Erosion Test System

Introduction

ASTM G73 Rain Erosion Test System, will help improve the lifespan of wind turbine blades by testing the erosion of the blade leading edge. This test system offers excellent repeatability and complies with the DNVGL recommended practice (DNVGL-RP-0171) for testing rotor blade erosion protection systems.

The rain erosion test system is based on the three-wing helicopter principle, with test specimens shaped like the leading edge of a standard wind turbine blade. This test setup ensures conditions very similar to real-life harsh weather in an accelerated manner.
